For the past few years I have had the pleasure of partnering with Lyft. Their stance on diversity and inclusion was the original reason I was drawn to them. As I got to know the organization I discovered that they were not only generous in their efforts but had an authentic desire to leverage their company resources to truly help people.

Lyft is continuing to innovate and create ways to increase their reach into supporting more communities through some valuable partnerships. Looking at this month and realizing that October is breast cancer awareness month they proactively sought out a partner who could enable them to support women and their need for health services. Realizing the alignment that they have with Banner was a monumental step to making these efforts possible.

Looking at statistics Lyft and Banner realized that only 67% of women 40 and older report having a mammogram within the last two years. And neither Banner nor Lyft wanted women to any excuse not to get to their appointment.

"One of the things that we can do is just help with the logistics of getting in and getting to your screening," said Alexandra Morehouse with Banner Health.

Morehouse says the hospital's philosophy is to make health care easier, so the rides are available throughout Maricopa County, Casa Grande and Tucson.

Lyft, a company who is constantly exploring connectivity, looked within their own ranks to find one of their own drivers who was impacted by breast cancer. They found Amanda Jones, who Like many women has procrastinated in getting this specific examine.

"By the time I got into the mammograms, I had a pretty good-sized lump and four separate types of breast cancer," says Jones. Jones was diagnosed in April of 2017, and she credits her dog and her husband for saving her life.

Now with this innovative and timely campaign in place Jones is among the many Lyft drivers who are aiding women to tackle this necessary examine. Jones says, “Sharing her story is as much about saving lives as it is about celebrating her own.”

The free rides include transportation to and from mammograms in Arizona – the Phoenix area, Tucson and Casa Grande. In addition, the free rides will be available in Northern Colorado, in Greeley, Loveland and Fort Collins.

Patients will receive 2 free rides (up to $15 each way) to and from the facility for the screening. Patients must be visiting one of the participating facilities below. If the ride fare exceeds the $15 threshold the card on file in the Lyft app will be charged the remaining amount.
